Our doctors are highly trained professionals that utilize the most recent technology, the most current veterinary procedures and are continually educating themselves on the latest veterinary information and newest drugs to provide your pet with exceptional veterinary care.
Dr. Carl Ansara
Dr. Carl Ansara grew up as local Floridian in Pompano Beach.
He completed an undergraduate degree in Biology at Florida Atlantic University before traveling to England to pursue his veterinary training at the Royal Veterinary College in London.
After graduation, Dr. Ansara practiced veterinary medicine in Belfast, Northern Ireland, before moving back home to South Florida. In 2008, Dr. Ansara took ownership of the Animal Hospital of University Drive. He considers it a blessing and a great privilege to serve the pets and people of Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale, Plantation, Coral Springs and beyond.
Dr. Ansara greatly enjoys all aspects of general practice, especially surgery (soft tissue and orthopedic). In his elusive spare time, Dr. Ansara enjoys spending time with his family.
He has several rescued pets including four dogs, one which is a handicap dachshund rescued from euthanasia, three cats and a tortoise. He is also an avid blues harmonica player, performing at many of the local venues in South Florida.
Dr. Jarred Hammer
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Jarred Hammer has been a valuable team member of the Animal Hospital of University Drive since 2014. He first joined our hospital as a kennel technician, then became a veterinary technician, and is now one of the two veterinarians in our hospital.
So we’re proud to say he’s been part of the family an an invaluable team member. Dr. Hammer was born and raised in South Florida and went on to complete his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Florida Atlantic University. In 2020, he moved to St. Kitts to pursue his veterinary training at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.
His clinical year training was then completed at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Hammer’s expertise lies in diagnosing and treating a wide range of animal health issues and delivering personalized attention to each of his patients. Whether providing routine check-ups or handling complex cases, he approaches every patient with a caring and personalized touch, ensuring both pets and their owners feel comfortable and supported throughout the process.
In his free time, he is an avid car enthusiast who enjoys spoiling his five cats, watching sports, and spending quality time with his loved ones.
